Self and identity in personality psychology

چکیده

Research on self and identity has greatly enhanced personality science by directing inquiry more deeply into the person’s conscious mind expansively outward social environments that contextualize individual differences in behavior, thought, feeling. After delineating key concepts offering reasons why psychologists should care about processes, we highlight important empirical discoveries are of special relevance to areas (1) self-insight, (2) self-conscious emotions, (3) self-esteem, (4) narrative identity, (5) role culture shaping self, integration personality. We anticipate future research will also move vigorously develop comprehensive precise accounts how life experiences influence development explore fully brain builds a sense harness what know improve people’s lives promote development.
